Foundation Courses

Art Department

A shared language, experience, community

Incoming students should expect to be challenged and exposed to new materials, strategies, and ideas. Art is a versatile and expressive career choice that is always evolving.

The Art Foundations program will provide an overview of basic skills, concepts, and techniques that transcend any one media or area.

These courses make up the pre-professional foundation for all of our art majors. They serve as a common set of studio and lecture classes intended to prepare students for entrance to any of the department's professional majors.

These courses give our students a shared language, experience, and community. Completion of this foundation acts as a springboard for moving into the more specific areas of study within the Art Department.
