MSSU vs PSU in the Sonic Trophy Series.Missouri Southern ranks among the best academically in the MIAA. The conference and the NCAA chart the academic success rates (ASR) of member institutions over a six‑year period. They take into count two separate rates, one for scholarship athletes, and another for all athletes. For the latest rankings, Missouri Southern had an ASR of 87 percent, which is 36 percent higher than the general population at MSSU, and the highest differential within the MIAA.

As of the 2011 Fall Semester, Missouri Southern had 345 student-athletes on 14 team rosters. Of those athletes, 159 had cumulative 3.0 GPA's or higher, 61 had a 3.5 or higher and 13 had a perfect 4.0 GPA.

During the 2011-12 season, Missouri Southern Athletics featured:
