How does your major (and minor) fit into your life's plan? - My major directly relates to my profession and has helped elevate my career as a commercial/advertising Photographer
How has your experience at MSSU enhanced (or advanced) your career goals? - MSSU gave me the tools I needed to be successful in my industry and profession. My Experience at MSSU helped mold and shape the professional that I am today.
What surprised you or impressed you most about MSSU and/or your degree program? - The quality of the Art Department and the Design Program really impressed me and has left a positive lasting impression on me as a Photographer.
Tell us about something you are/were involved with at MSSU (a sport, a club, etc.) and how it's changed you. - I was the President of the Ad club, Southern Concepts and was extremely involved with the Art Department Photo Studio and Computer Lab.
Tell us about a great experience or opportunity you've had at MSSU. - Through our Ad Club, Southern Concepts, I was able to make frequent trips to Kansas City to be involved with AAF events. These events were not only networking events but learning events and workshops. It also provided insight into the Advertising community in Kansas City.
What makes MSSU special? - The small classroom and student to Professor ratio. This really allowed me to get one on one attention with assignments and studio projects and I felt like the Art Department was an extension of family.
What's your favorite spot on campus and why? - Being an Art Major I would have to say that the Art Department is where I spent 90% of my time. I spent time in either our photo studio or in the computer lab working on projects and working outside of the classroom.
Why did you choose to attend MSSU? - I chose MSSU because of the affordable tuition and quality of program in the Art Department.
Discuss ways the professors in your area of study assist (or assisted) you. - My advisor and Design Professor, Mr. Noblett was extremely gifted as an artist and as a Professor. His knowledge and understanding helped shape my body of work and encouraged me to be the best that I can be in my profession.
Tell us how MSSU staff members are/were especially helpful to you. - From the moment I arrived to the day I graduated, each MSSU staff and professor was always there to help and assist me.
What have you learned (or are learning) at MSSU that’s made a difference to you? - I learned valuable knowledge and skills inside the classroom at MSSU that paved the foundation for my success in the photographic industry.
What is/was your favorite part about life on campus? (Or, distance learning?) - I think the best part of the campus is all of the activities available to students all within walking distance.
Tell us about one thing at MSSU that no student should miss. - Prospective students should not miss out on the small classroom sizes and affordability of MSSU, which are the two biggest reasons why MSSU has been so successful in training young professionals to be ready for the workforce when they graduate.
Tell us about your experience in an internship, a project, a student organization, etc. - I was able to be the President of the Ad Club Southern Concepts and it really opened my eyes to getting into a career after graduation. In a sense, the experience of Southern Concepts helped prepare me for the workforce. We took many trips to Kansas City through the AAF and AIGA and were exposed to many workshops, extended classrooms and networking opportunities. These experiences helped give me an edge and insight into the working industry of Kansas City.
