George A. Spiva Library

Spiva Library Computer Use Policy

MSSU students have priority access to computer workstations. If community workstations are in use while MSSU students are waiting, community users will be asked to log-off of the workstation.

Computer workstations on the Main Floor (3rd) of the library are intended for research purposes. Game playing, instant messaging, chatting and other activities, such as myspace.com, not associated with a class will be directed to the 1st floor computer lab.

If a person with a disability is in need of a workstation, patrons will be asked to move from a workstation designated for ADA access.

Students may not use their MSSU assigned login for anyone else, including family members.

Community patrons must show photo ID and sign-in at the Reference Desk on the 3rd floor or Seconday Circulation Desk on the 1st floor to access a computer workstation. A parent may show photo ID for children age 15 and younger. Children 12 years of age or younger must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

There is a time limit of one-hour per day for community users. Community users are also charged a 10 cents fee for each page printed.

Excessive printing by MSSU students is an abuse of the privilege of free printing and it interferes with access to the printer(s) by others. Library staff may cancel print jobs or ask students to stop printing additional materials. A library staff member will discuss the situation - when possible - with the violating student.
