Excellence in Student Success and International Education

Missouri Southern State University views accreditation self-study as an opportunity to advance a culture that emphasizes and fosters the success of students. Accordingly, the Steering Committee has established the following goals:

  • To create a greater sense of ownership and promote the accomplishment of the Missouri Southern State University mission, values, goals, and plans.
  • To focus on student success in the first year of college by integrating into the HLC self-study an evaluation using the Policy Center’s Foundations of Excellence Dimensions and associated Performance Indicators.
  • To promote a culture of student success throughout the college experience in an academically challenging environment.
  • To evaluate and improve the effectiveness of institutional systems designed to help all students succeed in the multicultural-global communities in which they will live and work.
  • To ascertain institutional strengths and opportunities for improvement.
  • To develop action plans to enhance strengths and to address opportunities for improvement.
  • To provide evidence that Missouri Southern State University meets the Higher Learning Commission's accreditation Criteria.
  • To enable the Higher Learning Commission's peer reviewers to suggest ways MSSU can most effectively fulfill its mission and accomplish its objectives.
