In 1986, Shell Companies Foundation donated $100 000 for books and periodicals to the SEG Library in the Geophysical Resource Center.

Instruments \ Seismic \ Data Processing and Interpretation \

Item Number:

87.34.01

Donor:

A. Max House, Seismic Field Services

Type:

Magnetic Recorder Type DC-2B

Manufacturer:

Fortune Electronics, Inc.

Description:
This Analog tape device was used to process field seismic data. For playback mode, each magnetic head was time shifted to make static corrections. In addition, each head was moved by a velocity cam during the tape playback to correct vertical times for horizontal offset distances. (see cam at left end of machine). A second part allows re-recording of playback data as may be required for adding (stacking) data from separate tapes having the same reflecting point.
