Dr. Jack Spurlin

Dr. Spurlin is the Vice President for Lifelong Learning. He has his Bachelor of Science in Law Enforcement and Corrections, Cum Laude, from Northwest Missouri State University in Kirksville, Missouri. He obtained his Master of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri. He also earned his Doctorate of Education in Occupational and Adult Education from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Dr. Spurlin worked several years as a police officer. During his tenure as an officer he worked as a patrol officer in traffic division and as a detective, and also did some undercover work. Dr. Spurlin started at MSSU in 1975 as the Police Academy Training Coordinator. After one year he was promoted to a full time faculty member in the Criminal Justice Department. In 1989 he was promoted to department head and was later promoted again to Dean of the School of Technology.

Dr. Wolf has more than 23 years experience in law enforcement and legal matters, during which he served seven years as a police officer and detective. He holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice Administration from Missouri Southern State University and has received his law degree (Juris Doctorate) from the University of Arkansas. He also attended the University of Louisville. In addition to his duties at Missouri Southern State University, Dr. Wolf is an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Jasper County, Missouri.

Mr. Wayne Thomason

Mr. Wayne Thomason

Mr. Thomason is Director of the Missouri Southern State University Law Enforcement Academy and an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice Administration. He has an Educational Specialist Degree from Pittsburg State University, a Master of Arts Degree in Public Administration from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Law Enforcement and Corrections from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. Mr. Thomason has thirty two years of law enforcement and training experience and has served both as a municipal Police Officer and Sheriff s Deputy. His duties have included patrol, criminal investigation, Assistant to the Chief of Police, Director of Corrections and Court Security. He is currently a certified reserve officer in Missouri and remains active in the law enforcement profession.

Dr. Trina Scott

Dr. Trina Scott

Dr. Scott has over 13 years experience with local agencies, serving as Legal Advisor to the Jasper County Juvenile Court and as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Jasper County. She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri at Columbia. She came to MSSU in 1994. Her teaching duties include the Criminal Justice Administration department and School of Business, in addition she is the Pre-Law Advisor. She is the advisor for the local chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma, the national Criminal Justice Honor Society.

Mr. Spencer has over 12 years experience as a police officer, Chief Deputy Juvenile Officer and child abuse investigator of the state of Missouri. He has also served on the board of Directors of the Missouri Juvenile Justice Association. Mr. Spencer started with the University in 1995. In conjunction with Missouri Southern's International Mission he has led more than 150 students on international study tours. These tours have examined the justice systems of Australia, New Zealand, France, Spain, Africa, England, and Italy. He received his B.S. in Criminal Justice Administration with honors from Missouri Southern State University and his M.S. in Criminal Justice and Justice Administration from Central Missouri State University.

Mr. JJ Spurlin

Mr. JJ Spurlin

Mr. Spurlin graduated from Missouri Southern State University with a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice and received his Masters Degree at Pittsburg State University in Human Resource and Management. He is currently finishing his EdS in Technical Education at PSU. Mr. Spurlin served as a state child abuse investigator for eight years before returning to Missouri Southern as an Assistant Professor. Mr. Spurlin was a part time instructor for four years and has been a full-time instructor since 1999.

Sheila Galbraith is the secretary for Criminal Justice. Ms. Galbraith's background encompasses 20 years experience working in human resources, banking and real estate. Having certified training in diverse computer applications and extensive experience in dealing with the public, she is happy to be of service to the students of the MSSU Criminal Justice department.

Ms. Barbara Spencer works as a secretary for the Criminal Justice department. She has worked in this position for 31 years, so if you have a Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement related problem or question, Ms. Spencer can be of help.
