At MSSU, we offer two bachelor's degrees in Chemistry, one in Biochemistry, and several options in Chemistry Education.

The BS in Chemistry and BS in Biochemistry major are appropriate for students who are interested in advanced studies, such as graduate or professional school. The Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry is appropriate for students who need some knowledge of chemistry as a basis for work in other fields, but who do not expect to become professional chemists.

The Biochemistry major is particularly suited for pre-professional students. In fact, a Biochemistry major is at many universities considered the default  premed  major.

Chemistry graduates will find an impressive array of options and exciting opportunities in fields such as basic research, environmental protection, instrumentation, new product and process development, technical marketing, market research, forensic chemistry, teaching at all levels, and information science. Moreover, an education in chemistry is valuable in health sciences such as medicine, pharmacology, clinical chemistry, and industrial hygiene. The first step into a future
in chemistry is a formal education. Since chemistry is such a broad field and holds diverse career opportunities, students should plan their education with a goal in mind.
