JOPLIN, MO (SNS) -- John Zaffis, the ghost hunter, will lecture on campus during the Halloween season. Zaffis will speak at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 21 in Cornell Auditorium in Matthews Hall. There is no charge to attend. Zaffis has been ghost hunting for over 25 years. He is working on a pilot for the Discovery Channel and has investigated hauntings for many shows including A Haunting in Connecticut which is going to be run again on Discovery Channel on Oct 30. He trained under his aunt and uncle who were the investigators of the Amityville House. John Zaffis has over thirty years of experience studying and investigating the paranormal. He has had the opportunity to work for and with his aunt and uncle Ed and Lorraine Warren, this sent John beyond looking for ghosts and hauntings and into studying Demonology under the Warrens. This led into John's involvement with cases of possession and exorcism and working with prominent exorcists in this field. John has assisted and worked with well-known exorcist Bishop Robert McKenna, Malachi Martin and the Rev. June. His research has taken him throughout the United States, Canada, England and Scotland covering several thousand cases. Through hands on investigating with other investigators and clergy, he has obtained a great deal of knowledge and understanding of the paranormal and is considered one of the foremost authorities in the field today. He has investigated ghosts and poltergeists and extensively and has worked with both spiritualists and psychics concerning how their knowledge is used for channeling, reincarnation (past life regression), or the ''calling of the spirits'' for information, and how they use meditation to acquire the information which they are seeking. Because of his personal and painstaking experiences with hauntings, ESP, Near Death Experiences and other paranormal activities, he is firm in his conviction that such phenomena does exist. John has worked with the production team for the seekers of the supernatural and on the journals of the New England Society of Psychic Research. He is also in the books of Ed and Lorraine Warren including Graveyards and In a Dark Place and is also working on supplying information for up coming books about the paranormal. John has had many requests from newspapers, television, and radio stations for assistance in acquiring information and assistance.
