JOPLIN, MO (SNS) – Another step will be taken toward expanding educational opportunities in the Four-State area this Wednesday at Missouri Southern State University. Officials from Missouri Southern State University and University of Missouri-Kansas City will sign two memorandums of understanding to provide cooperative Master's Degree programs in Nursing and Dental Hygiene. The signing will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 30 in Room 314 of Billingsly Student Center. Dr. Stephen Lehmkuhle, Interim Chancellor at UMKC, will represent the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Also present will be Dr. Bruce Bubacz, Interim Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Lora Lacey-Haun, Dean of the School of Nursing, and Dr. Bonnie Branson, associate professor in the School of Dentistry at UMKC. Missouri Southern President, Dr. Julio León, will sign both agreements on behalf of Missouri Southern. Also present will be Dr. Richard McCallum, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Tia Strait, Dean of the School of Technology. Area news media are invited to attend and obtain comments from those taking part in the signing ceremony. Following Wednesday’s signing, these cooperative programs will be submitted for approval to the Missouri Coordinating Board for Higher Education.
