Sildus presentations this morning on campus
Tatiana Sildus will make two presentations on campus today, Friday, Sept 10. Sildus, assistant professor of curriculum and instruction at Pittsburg State University, will present All Work and No Play: Education the Russian Way, at 9 a.m., Friday, Sept. 10 in Room 113 of Taylor Hall at Missouri Southern. This presentation gives an overview of the Russian educational system from kindergarten to college while focusing on similarities and differences between the educational systems of Russia and the United States. Her second presentation, "When in Russia, Do as the Russians Do: A Closer Look at Traditions, Customs, and Holidays," will be given at 11 a.m. in the same location. In this session, she introduces some of the cultural traditions and customs that are uniquely Russian and discusses everyday life in Russia. Sildus holds a Ph.D. in language acquisition from Kansas State University and an M.A. from Vladimir State Pedagogical Institute. She serves as president of the Kansas Foreign Language Association and was the recipient of the Outstanding Graduate Student in Education and the Best of Kansas awards. In addition to her work at PSU, she taught German and her native Russian on the high school level for several years. Both presentations are free and open to the public. . |
