JOPLIN, MO (SNS) - Seafha Blount, a sophomore undecided major from Galena, Kan., and Christopher Crabtree, a sophomore Biology major from Republic, were named as royalty to preside over Missouri Southern State College's Homecoming 2002 festivities. This year's homecoming theme is "Sensational Sixties: Sixty-Five Years of Lion Pride." The Queen and King were selected from 35 Missouri Southern men and women nominated by student organizations. Balloting for the Royalty candidates took place in late October. Blount and Crabtree were both nominated by the Native American Student Association. Seafha Blount is the daughter of Marion R. Sizemore of Galena, Kan. She is the president of the Native American Student Association, is a member of the Freshman Honor Society and the recipient of the Evans Scholarship, MSSC's Honors Program scholarship. She is a member of Epsilon Mu Sigma, the International Club and Southern IMPACT. Christopher Crabtree is a member of the Native American Student Association and the Biology Club at MSSC. The Missouri Interpreter's Association named him Seasonal "Interpreter of the Year" for 2001. He enjoys hiking, canoeing and botany with friends and plans to work in the environmental field. The five Queen and five King finalists were presented at the annual Homecoming all-campus lunch at noon, Friday, Nov. 1 on campus. All Royalty finalists will participate in the Homecoming parade at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 2 on the MSSC campus. The Queen and King also will be introduced during half-time activities at the Homecoming football game at Hughes Stadium at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, when the MSSC Lions meet Missouri Western State College. |
