Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Jeremy Kushner, will present a
special program at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 30 in Webster Hall

The performance is free and open to the public. The concert will feature a musical buffet from several of the greatest jazz stylists of all time, including selections from the songbook of multi-faceted trumpeter/cultural icon Miles Davis and the always-original Thelonius Monk. A Thanksgiving-size portion of material from the songbook of composer/arranger/teacher Sammy Nestico, will be served--along with helpings from four-time Grammy Award winner Tito Puente, Bob Mintzer of Yellowjackets fame and songwriter Nat Simon. The jazz favorites featured will include "Well You Neednt (Its Over Now)" written by Thelonious Monk, arranged by Mark Taylor, "88 Basie Street" by Sammy Nestico, "Poinciana" by Nat Simon, arranged by Dr. Jeff Macomber, of the MSSU Music Department, and Nestico's "Hayburner." Following an intermission, the orchestra will play Bob Mintzer's "Computer," another Sammy Nestico number titled "Nicole, and "Ran Kan Kan," written by Tito Puente, arranged by Michael Mossman. The evening will be capped with "Four," written by Miles Davis, arranged by Willie Davis.
