JOPLIN, MO (SNS) - The International Student Ecolonomics Association (ISEA) at Missouri Southern State University will hold a fundraiser from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 29 in the Lions Den in the Billingsly Student Center and on the second floor of Webster Hall.

ISEA members will sell bracelets, necklaces and key chains they have made out of industrial grade hemp. Fiber from the plant long has been used to make paper, clothing, rope and other products. Its oil is found in body-care products such as lotion, soap and cosmetics.

The ISEA is making hemp jewelry to promote sustainability as well as to generate funds for Earth Day.

“Sustainability” allows individuals and societies to meet their needs and express their greatest potential in the present, while preserving biodiversity and natural ecosystems.

The ISEA helps sponsor the Earth Day Event on the MSSU campus and often gives away items and information that pertain to greening the Earth.

For more information contact Emeli Jimenez at Jimenez-e-405@mssu.edu or call Dr. Thomas Simpson, ISEA faculty adviser, at (417) 625-3112.
