Mind Your Music Wins Top Honors in 2001
The judges' panel has awarded Mind Your Music the 2001 Fine Arts Radio International® Awards trophy for outstanding achievement in classical music education.
Produced by KMFA staffers David Ford and Russell Sarre, Mind Your Music airs weekly on KMFA-FM in Austin, Texas (www.kmfa.org), and is designed to help prepare Central Texas 3rd through 6th graders for the annual Music Memory Contest.
Content of Mind Your Music is organized in cooperation with both the Austin Independent School District and the University Interscholastic League to provide teachers with additional arts enrichment materials.
Throughout the academic school year, students learn 16 great works from the early Renaissance to 20th century jazz. Each edition of Mind Your Music coincides with local classroom activities involving specific composers and their music.
