From the President, Dr. Bruce W. Speck

Welcome to Missouri Southern State University. As President, I want to extend a hearty Southern welcome and invite you to join the Lion Pride!

As a student here, you will enjoy a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including a vibrant intramural program, inspiring plays, concerts, art exhibits and plenty of fun.

Your future is bright at Southern. You will find more than 100 majors and degree options, new cooperative graduate programs, more than 80 student organizations, exciting and competitive NCAA DIVISION II ATHLETIC PROGRAMS, a BEAUTIFUL 373-ACRE CAMPUS, stimulating international THEMED SEMESTER EVENTS, vigorous and extensive DISTANCE LEARNING AND ONLINE PROGRAMS, modern state-of-the-art facilities and more.

Our faculty and staff work diligently to provide you with a successful academic experience, especially through our FIRST-YEAR EXPERIENCE PROGRAM, designed to connect students and foster their success early in their academic career.

Students stay fit and have fun in the George Beimdiek Recreation Center at the Billingsly Student Center. The 65,000-sq- ft. facility features the Willcoxon Health Center, a three-court gymnasium, elevated jogging and walking track, two 4,000-sq.-ft. fitness areas with 100 cardiovascular stair machines, tread mills, weight machines and free weights, two fitness class studios, a fitness testing center, locker rooms, showers and a 150-seat theater-auditorium.

NURSING, DENTAL HYGIENE AND ALLIED HEALTH PROGRAMS enjoy state-of-the-art facilities in our new 85,000-sq.-ft. Health Sciences Building, designed to meet the needs of the state and region in these critical health care fields.
