JOPLIN, MO (SNS) – Participation in sports is an international language of sorts, bringing people of diverse cultures together for healthy competition.

An upcoming program titled “The Rise of China in the 21st Century through Sport” will be presented at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 5 in Webster Hall Auditorium. Admission to the program is free. The public is invited to attend.

In May of this year, the MSSU volleyball team toured Shanghai and Beijing. Team members will share their experiences and discuss how China is using the platform of sports and recreation to influence the world and to shape the culture of 1.4 billion people within its borders.
