JOPLIN, MO (SNS) - The Chinese Film Festival at Missouri Southern State University will continue this week with a showing of the 1994 film Eat Drink Man Woman (Yin shi nan nu).

The film will be shown at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 16 in Cornell Auditorium in Plaster Hall at MSSU. The film is free and open to the public.

Directed by Ang Lee (who also directed Brokeback Mountain and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) this is an acclaimed comedy-drama about a widowed master chef facing such problems as losing his sense of taste, his three daughters’ strong desire for leaving home and a marriage-minded widow next door.

Senior Master Chef Chu lives in a large house in Taipei with the daughters, one a chemistry teacher converted to Christianity, another an airline executive and yet another still a student who also works in a fast food restaurant.

Life in the house revolves around the ritual of an elaborate dinner each Sunday and the love lives of all the family members.
