JOPLIN, MO (SNS) – The Missouri Southern State University Board of Governors have extended Dr. Julio León's contract another three years following an annual evaluation of the University president conducted in executive session.

 

The evaluation was held during the Board's June 15 meeting.

Board members were unified in their praise for the president. In a statement following the meeting, Board President Elizabeth Deffenbaugh said, "Dr. León has done an outstanding job of leading the University and accomplishing the goals that have been established. Thanks in large part to his leadership, we are moving forward with new undergraduate programs, new collaborative graduate programs and new facilities to better serve our students. His vision is allowing us to provide outstanding educational opportunities for the region’s students. Dr. León is recognized throughout the state and the nation as a leader in higher education."

The Board annually reviews the performance of the president.

 

Dr. León was given a 4 percent raise, the same as extended to all University employees.
