JOPLIN, MO (SNS) --  Enrollment begins Nov. 1 for the spring semester of the cooperative Master of Science in Criminal Justice Administration degree offered through Missouri Southern State University in Joplin  and Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau.

Participating students enroll in classes from both institutions in a fixed rotation covering six consecutive academic terms; four semesters with two summer terms. All courses are available on-line.

Students with degrees outside the field of Criminal Justice may be required to complete at least two introductory courses prior to acceptance to the Masters of Science in Criminal Justice program.

Graduates of the program possess the skills and expertise to compete for high-level positions. Current practitioners find themselves more competitive for promotion and assignment. Graduates with experience both inside and outside law enforcement will have enhanced opportunities when competing for prestigious state and federal positions.

Students may complete a thesis option or a major project.  Some projects have included working with United States Probation, the Justice Department and the United Nations.

Applicants must meet requirements for regular admission to the School of Graduate Studies.  They must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university and have a cumulate undergraduate grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Financial assistance is available to those who qualify.  Online classes are ready day or night, wherever Internet access is available, providing students with maximum flexibility.
