"The Patsy" February 5 - 9 in Bud Walton Theatre

patsy shot 1JOPLIN, MO (SNS) – Southern Theatre presents The Patsy by Barrry Conners at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 5-9 in Bud Walton Theatre on the campus of Missouri Southern State University.  The play is directed by Jim Lile.

To mark Missouri Southern's 75th anniversary, Southern Theatre will present a revival of the first play produced at Joplin Junior College. 

The story deals with a middle class American family in which there are two grown daughters and a society-bound mother to complicate matters for the hard-working father.  The turbulent romances of the daughters, the social aspirations of "Mom" and the final rebellion of the hen-pecked father provide the theme for the mad-cap comedy.

This production will include some alumni as cast members.

The Patsy cast includes: alumna Cassie Lynch as Mrs. William Harrington, Hunter Dowell as Bill Harrington, Abby Railsback as Patricia Harrington, Katie Hembree as Sadie Buchanan, Jimmy Zerkel as Tony Anderson, and alumni Lyle Burrow as Mr. O'Flaherty, and Sam Claussen as "Trip" Busty.

Admission is free for MSSU Students and MSSU faculty and staff; $3.00 for adults; $1.00 for Senior Citizens; $1.00 for Non-MSSU Students.

The Southern Theatre box office will be open Monday, January 28 through Friday, Feb. 8. Box office hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. For reservations, call the Southern Theatre Box Office at (417) 625-3190.
