Evans, Thomas 2011 Homecoming Royalty

homecomign royalty 2011JOPLIN, MO (SNS) - Missouri Southern State University students Samantha Evans, Blue Eye, Mo., and Jeremy Thomas, Florissant, Mo., were crowned 2011 “Hollywood” Homecoming Queen and King today on the MSSU campus. 
 
Coronation of Homecoming Royalty was held at the All University Picnic at noon on campus before a large crowd of well-wishers.  Evans and Thomas were crowned by Missouri Southern State University President, Dr. Bruce W. Speck and Mrs. Carmen Speck.
 
Homecoming King Jeremy Thomas  was sponsored by the Campus Activities Board (CAB). He is the son of Richard and Marquita Thomas of Florissant. He is a senior Mass Communications major. He is involved in the Campus Activities Board, the MSSU student newspaper The Chart, and MOSO Poetic Nature.  He has served as a Southern Ambassador.

After graduation from Missouri Southern State University, he plans to pursue his graduate degree, possibly at the University of Missouri, or begin a career in journalism with a hometown newspaper, the Flo Valley Independent News
 
2011 Homecoming Queen Samantha Evans was sponsored by the Residence Hall Association.  She is the daughter of Jack and Jodi Evans of Blue Eye, Mo.  She is a sophomore Criminal Justice Administration major. 

She is involved in the MOSO Mane-iacs, the and Phi Eta Sigma.  She is a member of the Residence Hall Association. She also is a member of the Recreational Employee Council (REC).


After graduation, she hopes to work for the federal government as a Forensic Scientist.


The King and Queen, along with other finalists, will participate in the Homecoming parade at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 1, on the MSSU campus.

Homecoming Royalty will be introduced during halftime activities at the Homecoming football game which begins at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 1 at Fred Hughes Stadium on the MSSU campus.

The Homecoming King and Queen were chosen by an election at Missouri Southern on Monday and Tuesday of this week.  The other finalists are:
