FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Nursing Department
JOPLIN, MO (SNS) - Graduates of the Nursing program at Missouri Southern State University will take part in a formal pinning slated for 6 p.m., Friday, May 15 in Mills Anderson Criminal Justice Center at MSSU.
Dr. Mari Beth Linder, associate professor and Director of the Department of Nursing, will welcome the 37 graduates.
Introductions will be made by Dr. Tia Strait, Dean, School of Technology.
MSSU President Dr. Bruce Speck will make brief remarks to the graduates.
Following an invocation by April Bennett, 2009 Nursing Program graduate, assistant professor Shanna Griffiths will make remarks.
The Spirit of Nursing Awards will be presented by Sgt. First Class Patricia N. Mitchell, U.S. Army.
Presentation of Baccalaureate Degree candidates will be made by Grace Ayton, BSN coordinator/associate professor.
Sheila Hart and Patricia Hempsmyer, both assistant professors of Nursing, will formally pin the graduates.
Candle lighters will be Chrys Corcoran, assistant professor and Chris Eller, associate professor.
“The Nightingale Pledge” will be made by LeSha Goade, assistant professor. Lauren Haggard, assistant professor of Nursing will make the Rose Presentation.
Dr. John Messick, Vice President fpr Academic Affairs, will present the Class of 2009.
Danielle Ready, 2009 Nursing Program Graduate, will deliver the Benediction. Roses for the event will be provided by the Missouri Southern Student Nurses Association. #
