JOPLIN, MO (SNS) - Friday, Sept. 19 will be a historic day for Missouri Southern State University.
Inauguration ceremonies are scheduled for 2 p.m. that day in Taylor Performing Arts Center for Dr. Bruce Speck, the 4th president in Missouri Southern State University's history as a four-year institution.
State officials, presidents from other universities and dignitaries have been invited to participate.
Missouri Southern invites members of the public to reserve this date and time on their calendars and plan to join the campus community in the celebration of this event at Missouri Southern.

Reservations will be accepted until 5 p.m., Friday, Sept. 5.
Dr. Speck came to Missouri Southern earlier this year after a nationwide Presidential search.
He previously served as Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at Austin Peay State University (APSU) in Clarksville, Tenn., one of six universities in the Tennessee Board of Regents System. From 2001-2005, Dr. Speck served as Vice President for Academic Affairs and tenured Professor of English at APSU.
Dr. Speck was chosen with the unanimous approval of the Board of Governors and the Search Committee as well as a vote of confidence from the MSSU Faculty Senate.
