JOPLIN, MO (SNS) - A special ceremony and reception honoring Ruth Kolpin-Rubison of Carthage will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, March 10 in the KGCS-TV studios in Webster Hall on the campus of Missouri Southern State University.

The studios have been renamed the “Ruth I. Kolpin Studios,” in honor of a generous contribution received from the Ruth I. Kolpin Foundation in support of the television upgrade project.

"Our University greatly appreciates the contributions of Ruth Kolpin-Rubison in helping us meet the technological challenges of the 21st century," says Bruce Speck, Missouri Southern President.

Thanks in part to the Kolpin Foundation, the station will be ready to broadcast digitally, when all U.S. television stations are required to do so early next year.

In the future, the station will also upgrade its production and studio equipment to reach a much larger audience and provide seamless digital productions from the beginning of the production process to the final broadcast.

“This upgrade provides great opportunities for KGCS-TV to extend its service from Missouri Southern to the community, as well as provide high quality equipment for students to work with at MSSU,” says Judy Stiles, KGCS General Manager.

The ceremony and reception will include remarks from Dr. Speck and Mrs. Kolpin-Rubison. Invited guests include members of the Kolpin family, representatives from the Kolpin Foundation, Missouri Southern faculty, KGCS staff and Southern Foundation representatives.

The media is invited to attend the presentation.
