JOPLIN, MO (SNS) - More than 1,000 students from schools in the four states will explore the world of foreign languages at the 34th Annual Modern Foreign Language Field Day, Tuesday, April 29 at Missouri Southern State University.

 

The theme for this year's event and poster contest will be "Foreign Languages: The Key that Unlocks the World.”

 

Leslie Parker, Director of the International Language Resource Center at MSSU, says tests will be administered throughout the day at various locations on campus.

 

Students of French, German and Spanish will compete in Culture Bowls, reading comprehension, vocabulary recognition, poetry reading, a poster contest and skits in their respective foreign languages.

 

Non-competitive events include Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Russian activities, Conversation Stations and a Latin Dance Workshop.
