JOPLIN, MO (SNS) - The Missouri Southern Board of Governors voted today to increase tuition to $143 per credit hour for in-state students.
The tuition increase will become effective for the fall 2008 semester.
MSSU President, Dr. Bruce Speck, says that the increase is necessary to meet rising costs and provide a high quality education for Missouri Southern students.
The increase amounts to $8 per credit hour.
The increase remains below the official tuition cap set last year by the Missouri legislature.
Despite the increase, Missouri Southern continues to offer the lowest tuition of any 4-year university in the state of Missouri.
