Scholarships and Performance Awards
Students who wish to Major in Music should apply directly
to MSSU through the Admissions Office. For those students (both majors and
non-majors) who wish to apply for financial aid, there are two avenues from
which to choose.
Financial aid based on need is administered through the Financial Aid
Office. There are also other non-music, merit based scholarships designed for
all students, and these too are offered through the Financial Aid Office.
Music Performance Awards,
offered through the Music Department, are available for Band, Orchestra, Choir,
Jazz Studies and Piano. You are not required to major in music to be eligible
for these awards. The amount varies according to the student's ability and is
decided individually through auditions.

Additional Performance Awards are given to students who are members of the
Lion Pride Marching Band and those who are selected for membership in the
Basketball Pep Band.
Several Patrons Scholarships are designated for Music Majors only. These scholarships are of
varied amounts. Application for a Patrons Scholarship can be made through the Office of Financial Aid.
Although MSSU has two scheduled Scholarship Audition Days during the
academic year, you are welcome to schedule an appointment to audition for the
Music Department at any time. To schedule an audition date and time, contact
Bud Clark, Music Department Head.
