| Concert Chorale The Missouri Southern Concert Chorale is the largest choral ensemble on campus, performing choral works ranging from classical literature of the 15th century to 21st century contemporary masterpieces. Not only do they delight audiences with their mature, superb vocal quality in concert several times each semester, but they participate in the annual community singing of Handel's Messiah. The Concert Chorale attracts the finest voices from the four state area and accepts music majors and non-majors. Music scholarships are available for this ensemble. Chamber Choir The Missouri Southern Chamber Choir is the premiere vocal ensemble on campus. This select chorus of 28 exquisite voices demonstrates their refined vocal ability to audiences throughout the Central United States and is well known for their emotional interpretation of choral literature. Their sensitive mastery of diverse styles of music has awarded them the opportunity to sing for state conventions and conferences not only in the United States but Europe as well. Over the past four years, the Chamber Choir has performed in such historical settings as St Peter's Cathedral in Rome and Notre Dame in Paris, as well as cathedrals in Switzerland, Germany, and Budapest. In keeping with the MSSU international mission, the Missouri Southern Chamber Choir was asked to perform in China in May 2003, but due to the outbreak of SARs we were unable to go. The choir did however, recently made a trip to Australia in May of 2005. |
