CONCERT CHORALEThe Missouri Southern Concert Chorale is the largest choral, performing ensemble on campus. This lightly auditioned choir is made up of both majors and non-majors that demonstrate a love for choral music and have a willingness to strive for continued improvement of choral techniques and vocal skills. The Concert Chorale performs in concerts several times each semester with a repertoire that ranges from classical works to gospel and contemporary literature. CHAMBER CHOIRThe Missouri Southern Chamber Choir is a supreme ensemble that is chosen for their musicality and purity of vocal quality. This vocally mature, select choir performs extensively throughout the four-state area demonstrating a mature sensitivity of the blending of music and text. This unique ensemble sound won them the opportunity to be the sole representative of the State of Missouri at the Austrian, Strauss Festival, in May of 1999. In addition to their many concert appearances, the Chamber Choir presents a Madrigal Dinner in the spring of each year. Auditions are open to both music majors and non-majors. |
SOUTHERN EXPOSURESouthern Exposure is an exciting Jazz/Show Choir that is a delight to watch as well as listen to. The skillful combination of dance and the singing of tight, intricate harmonies are displayed by this highly sought after performing ensemble. This ensemble is chosen upon their out-going personalities, ability to dance, sing, and sell a song. Auditions are open to both music majors, and non-majors. SOUTHERN GENTLEMEN The Southern Gentlemen is a men's chorus made up of the male members of the Concert Chorale plus other MSSU male employees and students who love to sing. Richness of quality, close harmonies and pur tone are the elements that are stressed in this men's ensemble. Literature ranges from old men's glee club tunes to barbershop chorus numbers, complete with choreography and a lot of "hamming it up." Auditions are open to all male students and employees of MSSU. The group meets once a week during the lunch hour and is "not-for-credit."
