2002 "Outstanding Southwest District Director Award" presented by
Missouri Choral Directors Association.
Named MSSU "Outstanding
Teacher" for 1997, Dr. Al Carnine,
Professor of Music, has been a member of the Music Faculty since 1977.
His primary responsibilities include teaching Music Appreciation and the
Choral Society, the area-wide community choir.
His formal education includes a BME in instrumental music education from
Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington, Illinois; a MM in choral conducting
from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas; a MM in music education from
Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas; and a DMA in Choral Conducting
from the University of Texas, Austin, Texas.
In demand as a choral festival director and adjudicator, Dr Carnine is a
book reviewer for four publishers, a recipient of the Friend of Education
Award given annually by the Joplin Educators Association, and is listed
in several music biographies including The International Whos Who in
Music. In 1995 his lecture for the Hiroshima in Perspective
honors course was selected the best of 18 presentations given by professors in
the various disciplines on campus. |
