Missouri Housing Development Commission
MHDC has encouraged and assisted in the production of affordable rental housing and provided homeownership opportunities for thousands of families. The Mission of MHDC remains to provide quality, safe, affordable housing for low and moderate income citizens of Missouri. It has invested approximately $3 billion in Missouri housing, covering every county of the state, for rental housing developments, home mortgages, home improvement loans, loans to landlords for renovations, grants to neighborhood housing groups and other programs.

MHDC does not build or renovate housing itself; rather, it functions more like a bank, providing financing directly to borrowers or through a network of private lending institutions. Most of MHDC's programs operate as a public-private partnership. Population Served: Low and moderate income families and individuals in Missouri. Maximum income limits vary by program.

The Missouri Housing Development Commission operates several programs to provide assistance to homebuyers, especially new homebuyers and those who are purchasing homes in rural Missouri. MHDC programs are designed to operate through participating lenders and can be partnered with USDA Rural Development, Veterans Administration, Fannie Mae and U.S. Housing and Urban Development products. It can also be a conventional loan product.

The MHDC Rental Housing Production Program provides low-interest rate construction and permanent financing to developers for the acquisition, rehabilitation and/or new construction of rental housing for low and moderate income families. Rental Housing Production Programs include HOME Rental Housing Production, Tax-Exempt and Taxable Bonds, Federal and State Housing Tax Credits, and Affordable Housing Assistance Tax Credits. See also Missouri Housing Trust Fund for program information.
