As a reminder, there is a distance learning technology fee associated with these courses.

Contact your instructor(s) via email to provide your email address and other contact information. The course listing with Internet instructors and their email address can be found with the course information on our web site (Internet Courses).

Contact the MSSU bookstore through their website http://www.mssu.edu/bookstore or by calling them at (417) 625-9380 to see if you need any textbooks.

We will begin populating the Blackboard Course Sites during the week prior to the beginning of each semester. In most instances you will not be able to access your course sites until the end of that week. You will need to go to the following URL using your Internet browser: http://mssu.blackboard.com (or access it through our web site) and login to the Blackboard server.

Your username and password are the same as your MSSU network and email username in the form S######## (S followed by 8 numbers). Your 6 digit Password is composed of randomly generated alpha-numeric characters. Blackboard is case sensitive so you must use the correct case when entering this information into the login screen. Your username and password will be sent in the mail. If you have not recieved this information or have lost it, contact the Computer Center at (417-659-4444). If you already have your login information but are still having trouble logging in, go to the LioNet login screen, and click the help link. Once you log in to Blackboard, access the courses you are enrolled in that use blackboard by clicking on the name of the course found under your list of "My Courses". You will be enrolled in a Demonstration Course site for the first few weeks of each semester. You are not required to but are encouraged to go through this site. Even if you have gone through this site in the past, you might want to review for new features you didn't use in the past but that your instructors might be using now!

If you make schedule changes in the week prior to the beginning of classes, or if you are not allowed access to Blackboard and your courses by the first day of classes for the semester, please contact black board help (417) 625-9885 or email to blackboardhelp@mssu.edu. Alternately, we have live text chat through our web site during various hours of the day and evening. We will make changes or confirm that you have been enrolled in the appropriate courses under the Blackboard system.

Although most Internet courses follow the same semester schedule as on campus courses, some courses vary in length. Check with your instructor concerning the beginning or ending date of your course. They are instructor led, not self- paced. The instructor sets examination procedures. Proctored and/or on-campus visitation for purposes of exams or labs may be required. Microsoft Office or Application Viewers may be required for access to materials on your course site. Please see the course listings on our web site and contact your instructor for more specific information on course requirements.

For more information on navigating within Blackboard and on using blackboard, please visit our demonstration blackboard site. The “Blackboard Orientation/Information/Troubleshooting ” course will be listed under your “My Courses” area for the first few weeks of each semester and always accessible by logging in as “demouser” with password of “demouser”.
