TRIPS AND SEMESTERS ABROAD

We work hand in hand with the Institute of International Studies office to put together trips like these from the 2004 - 2005 school year.

Introduction to Mexican Culture - March 18-27, 2005. Students will be surrounded by the culture of Mexico as they receive an experience that is impossible to recreate in a traditional classroom. Four days in Mexico City, three in Morelia living with host families, and three in Guanajuato will result in improved language skills and a better understanding of a foreign culture. Contact Leslie Parker for additional information.

Immersion Experience in Mexico - May 16 to June 20, 2005. Students can earn six hours of Spanish credit from MSSU by studying at the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicol s de Hidalgo in Morelia. Weekend excursions include the Paricut n volcano, the waterfall Tzar racua, a tropical rainforest park, an ecological community, and a 19th century textile factory and mill. Students live with Mexican families in Morelia. Contact Leslie Parker for additional information.

Summer Study Program in Beijing - May 25 to June 25, 2007. Instructors from MSSU and the Communications University of China in Beijing will provide daily intensive lectures on the Chinese language and culture, visits to museums, weekend expeditions, and separate visits to Xi an and Shanghai. Students will develop cross-cultural competence that can result in long-term business prospects. Visit the China Trip website or contact Sherman Hou for additional information.

Many additional travel experiences, from one week excursions to year long bilateral exchanges, are available through the Institute of International Studies. Visit their website for more information.
