KGCS provides programming from America One and a variety of other sources. The program structure is designed to meet the educational and informational needs of the community and the College.  America One, the network, which calls itself  The Voice of the Homeland,  presents a variety of programming.  such as: classic Western movies and television series, sports programs -including Canadian Football League games, outdoor shows and auto racing, music programs, lifestyle programs focusing on topics such as cooking and gardening, news and information programs featuring business news, and children s programming.  Missouri Southern Television supplements the network at various times to offer programming to serve area needs and interests.

An overnight satellite service from The Classic Arts Showcase features classical music and arts performances. Other hours on the station feature a variety of locally-produced and syndicated programming, including live sports telecasts. KGCS provides local television viewers a chance to see programs which would otherwise not be available in the market, which consists of four network affiliates (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX) and a PBS station.
 
 

KGCS is proud to provide programming during the morning hours from the Sportsman Channel. The network provides a variety of outdoor hunting and fishing programs. Times for the Sportsman Channel on KGCS are:

Monday - Friday 5:00 - 7:00 a.m.

Saturday 5:00 - 7:00 a.m. & 8:30 - 10:00 am.

STUDENT PRODUCTIONS 

 
   
In addition to direct involvement with station operations, students produce many of the local programs airing on KGCS-LP.  Most of the productions are completed as extracurricular activities outside of course requirements.  Students follow specific guidelines and procedures throughout the production process, from submitting program ideas to approval of programs for airing.  These procedures are outlined in the KGCS Operations Handbook.
   
   

Community Interest Programming

KGCS produces a number of programs focusing on issues and organizations in the Joplin-area community. They include:

 
 
Newsmakers - A news/interview program hosted by Judy Stiles, featuring guests and current events in local news.
 
Community Service Spotlight - A public service interview program, featuring guests from non-profit community agencies, highlighting services provided by their groups.
 
Chamber Chat - A quarterly program hosted by representatives of the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce, sharing information about Chamber activities and programs. http://www.joplincc.com/
 

Governmental Coverage

KGCS brings Joplin-area viewers coverage of various governmental groups. They include:

MSSU Programs

KGCS provides programming highlighting some of the many activities and programs at Missouri Southern. Programs include:

 

Southern Cooks - A cooking show, hosted by Debbie Cash, featuring recipes from the MSSU campus-wide cookbook, Favorite Recipes" a collection of recipes shared by staff, f aculty, and students of MSSU.

 
Window on the World - An interview program focusing on the international mission at MSSU, featuring students and faculty who have benefitted from travel abroad and international programs on campus.
 
Southern Sports Sunday - Tape-delayed coverage of Southern football and basketball games during the fall and winter.
 
KGCS Campus Update - A student-produced newscast, featuring news and interviews focusing on campus activities.
 
MSSU Lecture Series - Tapes of lecture presentations made by guests appearing on campus.
