KGCS airs programming from America One and a variety of other sources. The program
structure is designed to meet the educational and informational needs of the community and the
University.
KGCS supplements the network at various times to offer programming to serve area
needs and interests.
The America One network presents a variety of programming, such as: classic Western movies and television series, sports programs - including Canadian Football League games, outdoor shows and auto racing, music programs, lifestyle programs focusing on topics such as cooking and gardening, news and information programs featuring business news, and children’s programming. |

| The Classic Arts Showcase features classical music and arts performances, including animation, architectural art, ballet, chamber and choral music, dance, folk art, museum art, musical theater, opera, orchestral, recital, solo vocal and theatrical performances. Missouri Outdoors KGCS proudly presents the award-winning outdoor series, produced by the Missouri Department of Conservation. Programs feature the outdoor beauty and wildlife from around the state. Missouri Outdoors airs Sunday evenings at 6:00 p.m.

| KGCS brings over-the-air televised games of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team to the Joplin area. The station has aired Cardinals games since 1988. Cardinals televised games. | ||||||

Legislative and Governmental Programs KGCS airs programming highlighting issues and activities of the Missouri House of Representatives and State Senate. These programs include "Capitol Dialogue" and "Missouri Legislative Update." The station also airs "Missouri Economy Today," produced by the MO Department of Economic Development. |

LOCAL PRODUCTIONS |

In addition to direct involvement with station operations, students help produce many of the local
programs airing on KGCS.
Most of the productions are completed through practicum work and as extracurricular work outside of course requirements. Students follow specific guidelines and procedures throughout the production process, from submitting program ideas to approval of programs for airing. |

Local Community Interest Programming KGCS produces a number of programs focusing on issues and organizations in the Joplin area. They include: |

| Newsmakers - A weekly news/interview program hosted by KGCS General Manager Judy Stiles, featuring guests and current events in local news. In addition to airing on KGCS-TV, the programs also air on KOAM-TV (CBS affiliate) and KOZJ-TV (PBS) in Joplin. | ||||||
| Joplin CVB Program - An interview program featuring Joplin-area activities and tourism news, presented by the Joplin Convention and Visitors Bureau. http://www.joplincvb.com/ | ||||||

Southern Sports Sunday - Tape-delayed coverage of MSSU football games in the fall and Southern women's and men's basketball games during the winter. Students perform all aspects of the production, from play-by-play and color commentators to camera operators and directing. |

| MSSU Music Presentations - KGCS records presentations from the Department of Music at Missouri Southern, including performances by the Southern Symphony Orchestra, jazz band, and choral groups. | ||||||

Missouri Southern Lecture Series - Presentations made by guests appearing on campus throughout the year are recorded and aired on KGCS-TV. During the fall semester, many of the presentations tie into the themed international semester for the University. The Fall of 2009 features presentations from the Canada Semester. Missouri Southern International Piano Competition - Recordings of pianists performing semi-final and final competition rounds during the competition air on KGCS-TV. The programs feature some of the world's best young pianists. Current programs feature competitors from the 2008 competition. |
