Wendell Redden |
|

Wendell Redden has
enjoyed a career in journalism for over 50 years. Following high
school, Redden assumed the sports assistant position at the Joplin
Globe Publishing Company in 1951, becoming the sports editor a year
later.
During his time at the Joplin Globe, Redden experienced many
unforgettable sports highlights. Some of those include the opening
game of the K.C. Athletics in 1955 after the team moved from
Philadelphia, coverage of numerous Big Eight Conference games,
participation in the Big Eight Skywriters football camp tours for 10
years, interviews with many players who eventually went on to enjoy
professional careers, and coverage of the Missouri Southern National
Championship football team in 1972.
Following his retirement in 1996, Redden has worked in the Sports
Information Department at Missouri Southern and helped produce
several award-winning football and basketball press guides. |

Redden has been recognized by the Missouri House of Representatives
and Senate for his life-long service in the newspaper industry.
