Participants will develop leadership skills by learning the qualities of a leader and how today s executives, middle managers, and supervisors can become not just an effective supervisor of people, but a leader for the organization that appreciates an understanding of variation reduction and continuous improvement. Organizations often promote the best performer and assume they are natural leaders. This common mistake costs the organization productivity, time, and money. Instead of assuming that trial and error will turn the best performer into the type of leader the organization desires, become proactive and expose them to the qualities and characteristics that great leaders possess. The course will emphasize leadership skills that are compatible with concepts from Deming, Six Sigma, and the Lean Organization. The sessions will be led by Mike Carder, a trainer by profession. He walks the talk and does an excellent job of blending theory and application. Enrollment is simple--call 625-9538 and show up the first evening in Matthews Hall, Room 109.
