Missouri Southern is a member of the Missouri Consortium for International Programs and Studies, which sponsors the Missouri London Program (MLP) in association with the Centers for Academic Programs Abroad (CAPA).

Several Missouri universities provide faculty to teach selected courses in London. Students in good standing, with a minimum 2.5 GPA, at the participating Missouri universities, are eligible for admission to the MLP.

Students enroll in three courses of their choosing, plus British Life and Culture, for a total of 12 semester hours. British Life and Culture is the showcase course of the program, covering a different topic each week relating to British history, culture, and civilization. Distinguished British and European lecturers provide detailed analysis of each subject, followed by a full or half-day course-related field trip to such places as Parliament, Inns of Court, Bath, Stonehenge, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Dover, and Canterbury.

Courses available for Spring 2010 include The Greening of Europe, London’s Fringe Theatre Scene, Musical Theatre, Wellington and Napoleon, London and the World Wars, Words and War in Shakespeare’s Plays, and Literary Voyage of Discovery.

Missouri London Program expenses for one semester:

  • $7,995 to CAPA (includes accommodations, an extensive weekly program of subsidized cultural and social activities, and subsidized course-related activities)
  • $300 activity deposit
  • $200 damage deposit (refundable)
  • $68 for insurance
  • $1,060 for meals (106 days x $10 estimated)
  • $150 for textbooks (estimated)
  • $900 airfare (estimated)

Students with a 2.5 GPA and full-time status may apply for a $1,000 Study Abroad Grant through the Institute of International Studies. The deadline is October 23, 2009 for Spring 2010.

The cost of the Missouri London Program does not include local transportation, postage, laundry, theatre visits, personal expenses, etc. This amount will vary for each student.
