curriculum

The language curriculum for the 2010 session has been re-designed to align with the common themes and concepts taught in the first year of high school Spanish.

Villagers will be assigned a home base for the morning sessions. They will be divided into five different groups. Each group will study a specific subject theme for the entire week. See below for specific themes.

In addition to language learning, we strongly believe in teaching culture and geography. In the afternoon sessions, villagers will travel to a different country each day to learn additional themes as well as the culture and geography of that day's country.

In order to teach geography and culture, five countries are selected, three of which stay the same each year. Spain, Mexico and Peru stay in the curriculum because of their importance to the United States and the Spanish-speaking world.
