ACTIVIDADES (Activities)

To enhance the immersion, our Villa is designed to simulate an experience of traveling to other countries. Upon arrival villagers are issued a pasaporte (passport) and from that point on, the new Village citizens become a part of the exciting world of Spanish language and its cultures. During their stay villagers will "visit" five Spanish-speaking countries. They learn some aspects of their cultures, crafts, songs, dances, geography and history. Villagers can even go shopping at the Village store and purchase items from Spanish-speaking countries using their newly acquired language skills.

The learning process is based on interactive hands-on activities which help develop functional communication. In addition to fun classroom learning, the Village offers many other activities such as:

    *Artesanias (crafts from Spain and Latin America)
    * Canciones (folk and popular songs from Spain and Latin America)
    * Bailes (dances from Spain and Latin America)
    * Deportes (sports)
    *Actividades computacionales en el Laboratorio de Lenguas (computer activities in the Language Lab)

In the evenings, residential Villagers enjoy special programs all involving the Spanish language such as:

      *All camp games including a Scavenger Hunt
    * Treasure Hunt
    * Swimming Olympics
    * Talent Show

On the last day, villagers perform in a special closing program for their parents in Webster Auditorium.
