In July 1995, The Missouri Governor signed into law that Missouri Southern “shall develop such academic support programs and public service activities it deems necessary and appropriate to establish international or global education as a distinctive theme of its mission.”

But the International Mission, strange as it may seem, is unrelated to international students attending MSSU. Funded by the State of Missouri, the mission focus is directed at making it possible for Missouri students to have international experiences and opportunities.

Missouri Southern is a great place for international students to study, because of the quality of education and learning environment, the relatively low cost of education here, and the hospitable setting of southwest Missouri. International students sometimes feel left out, but should remember that they are agents of the mission and not receivers of it.
