ZAMBIAN ACAPELLA BOYS CHOIR

The Zambian Acapella Boys Choir presented a free concert in Webster Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 16. The choir consists of 12 boys ages 11 to 19.

Zambia's capital city, Lusaka, is home to the group. The boys sing both native African songs and songs learned from missionaries. The songs are sung in several different native languages and in English, the official language of Zambia.

As well as their unique arrangements of familiar hymns, the boys also perform the complex Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah. This is one of their most requested pieces.

The Zambian Acapella Boys Choir is sponsored by TTT: Partners in Education, a nonprofit group based in Texas. Founders Keith and Jane Grimes were educational missionaries to Zambia and began this organization based on the needs they saw in the field.
