ALEX ADWAN
Alex Adwan joined The Tulsa World in 1967 as Washington correspondent. He was named editor, editorial pages, in 1981. He has been senior editor since 1994 and writes a weekly column. Earlier, Adwan was with United Press International. As UPI bureau manager in Houston in the early 1960s, he covered the establishment of the NASA space center and the Mercury and Gemini space flights of that era. A veteran of the Korean War, Adwan serves on the professional advisory committees of the University of Oklahoma's H.H. Herbert School of Journalism and the Political Communications Center at OU, the president's advisory committee for Rogers University at Tulsa and numerous other education-related committees and civic groups. He is a member of the Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame and has been named a distinguished alumnus of the OU journalism school and the Oklahoma Military Academy. In 1995 he received the Oklahoma Press Association's Beach Musselman Award for "outstanding contribution to newspaper journalism." Adwan is married to Teresa Bradley, a senior partner in the Tulsa-Oklahoma City law firm of Gable and Gotwals.
