Vice President for Academic Affairs

Missouri Southern State University is seeking a dynamic leader to promote a culture of excellence in Academic Affairs.  The next VPAA will work closely with the executive team, comprised of the President, Senior Vice President, and Vice President for Development.  Working in a team environment, the VPAA will shape Academic Affairs to promote excellent programs, to help increase enrollment, and to work with leaders in the community to serve the region.

The ideal candidate will have served at least 3-5 years at the dean level, preferably at the assistant/associate VPAA or Provost/VPAA levels, accumulated a record of scholarly achievements, and progressed through the academic ranks (preferably to professor), with a proven history of solid teaching credentials and stellar administrative acumen.

The next VPAA will have the ability

• to develop and lead a collaborative academic leadership team to fulfill the institution’s strategic plan
• to provide steady, visible support for faculty, staff, and students
• to participate effectively in recruiting, developing, and supervising new administrators and faculty members, with a clear plan for succession planning
• to represent the university locally and globally
• to manage budgets and insure that state funds are being spent judiciously and effectively
• to promote excellence in academic programs, including evaluating all academic programs to determine their level of success and working closely with accrediting agencies
• to make recommendations to the President’s Council as a representative for academic affairs
