How to Apply

Eligible Students (see Eligibility Page) should first apply to Missouri Southern. Then, complete an application form. This form may be downloaded, completed in Adobe Reader, saved, and attached to an email to honors@mssu.edu. Alternatively, you may print the form (or request that one be mailed to you) and mail it directly to the Honors Office.

INCOMING FRESHMEN

1. A completed APPLICATION FORM must be filed. (Click image at right)
2. Please request that an official high school TRANSCRIPT be sent directly to the Honors Program.
3. Your ACT RESULTS must be on record, either on your transcript or separately.
4. Arrange to have two LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION sent directly to the Honors Program. These letters should address the qualities you possess as a student.
5. When your application is complete, you may be invited for an INTERVIEW.
6. You may be required to submit an ESSAY describing your academic goals and explaining your desire to participate in the Honors Program.

CURRENT MSSU STUDENTS OR TRANSFER STUDENTS

1. A completed APPLICATION FORM must be filed.
2. Please request that an official college TRANSCRIPT be sent directly to the Honors Program.
3. Your ACT RESULTS must be on record, either separately, or on your transcript.
4. Arrange to have two LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION from your college instructors sent directly to the Honors Program.
5. When your application is complete, you may be invited for an INTERVIEW.
6. You may be required to submit an ESSAY describing your academic goals and explaining your desire to participate in the Honors Program.

DEADLINES - For Fall Semester Admission

• Items 1-4 listed above must be completed by February 15.
• The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be submitted by March 1. See the Financial Aid page for instructions.
• Students submitting application materials after this date may be considered if time permits, or may be considered for admission the following Spring.

DEADLINES - For Spring Semester Admission

• Items 1-4 listed above must be completed by November 1.
• The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be submitted by November 1. See the Financial Aid page for instructions.
• Students submitting application materials after this date may be considered if time permits, or may be considered for admission the following Fall.
