The University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Nursing offers a National League for Nursing (NLN) accredited degree program. The master's program of study is 36 hours. Students admitted into nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist roles must complete 43 hours for graduation.

The School of Nursing offers students in northwest and southwest
Missouri the opportunity to obtain their MSN while attending classes held on
the campus of Missouri Western State College (MWSC) in St. Joseph and Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) in Joplin. UMKC faculty in St. Joseph and Joplin
coordinate and supervise clinical experiences while Kansas City faculty teach
classes using state-of-the-art telecommunication technology. Students attend
classes at these outreach sites and obtain their master's degree without coming
to Kansas City.
Established in 1979, the UMKC School of Nursing enrolls over 300 students annually. Located in the heart of Kansas City on Hospital Hill, the school offers the finest in educational opportunities for registered nurses wishing to continue their education to become advance practice nurses.

A free standing health assessment course prior to enrolling in N504 Health assessment for Advanced Nursing Practice is highly recommended. (Students are required to possess basic physical assessment skills.)
Call the Nursing Student Services Office for an application packet. Admission into the master's program occurs once a year. Students must apply for summer semester if planning to attend full time and summer or fall semester if planning to attend part time. The application deadline is January 15 for the following summer or fall semester. A $25 non-refundable application fee made payable to UMKC is required at the time the application is submitted.
Students Enrolled in the MSN degree program have the option to select a thesis or a research project to complete degree requirements.
