Established in 1997 on the campus of Missouri Southern State University, the Graduate Center's purpose is to allow students in the local area to attend graduate level courses utilizing the convenient location of the University and at the same time taking advantage of the excellent support facilities that Missouri Southern has to offer the community. The Graduate Center permits Missouri Southern to specialize in undergraduate education, resulting in a more efficient utilization of state resources.
Programs offered at the Center are provided by various other universities. The courses are held on the campus of MSSU and vary in nature from traditional classroom settings to fully interactive telecourse programs and online instructional courses via the internet. Degrees earned at the Graduate Center are conferred by the universities that bring programs to Southern's campus. Some programs require a period of study in residence on the campus of the offering institution.
