MSSU First Year Experience Program

Common Reading Program

The Common Reading Program provides a rich liberal arts experience to all first-year students.

For each international themed semester, a related book is chosen as a Common Reading for use in all sections of the MIDS 100: The University Experience course. Students read, discuss, and study the book, as well as its author.

There are unique opportunities related to the common reading such as studying the common reader with your peers as well as a speaker related to the reading (i.e. author, translator, character) will come to campus to lecture and meet with the first-year students and the campus as a whole.
