MSSU First Year Experience Program

University Experience 100:
“The University Experience"

MSSU has designed a course to help you acculturate to University life. 'University Experience 100' is team taught by highly qualifed instructors and peer mentors. The course focuses on issues such as developing study skills, learning about campus services, understanding the advising and enrollment process, and becoming familiar with the University's international mission.

The International Mission and Themed Semester Activities

Each fall semester, the MSSU community selects a country or region for intense study. For the fall 2009 semester, we will study Canada. As part of you University Experience 100 course, you will have the opportunity to participate in many themed semester activities. For more information about the activities related to the Canada semester, visit the Institute of International Studies website.

Common Reading Program

For each themed semester, a related book is chosen as a common reading for use in all sections of the University 100 course. The common reading for the fall 2009 semester is Klee Wyck by Emily Carr. Kathryn Bridge, the editor of the 2003 version of Klee Wyck will be on campus November 18 and 19 to discuss her experiences editing the book.
