First-Year Experience

Dr. Susan Craig has been a member of the MSSU campus community for twenty years. She began as a student, graduating with a degree in Secondary English Education. Dr. Craig has worked for MSSU since 1995. She served as a counselor for five years and then was the Director of the Upward Bound and Project Stay programs before becoming the Director of the First-Year Experience Program. Dr. Craig has spent her entire career working with students in transition and she is a firm believer in the opportunities that education can provide. She earned a Masters in Counseling from Missouri State University and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Dr. Craig is also a Licensed Professional Counselor and an Assistant Professor in the Teacher Education department.

Tani Montee is a lifelong resident of Riverton, Kansas where she lives with her two children. Her daughter works in the Financial Aid Department at MSSU and plans to graduate from our nursing program with a BS degree in the spring of 2015. Her son will graduate from Riverton High School in 2014 and will attend MSSU that fall. Tani is also planning to complete a Psychology degree as a non-traditional student from MSSU. She joined the MSSU staff as an Administrative Assistant in the FYE office in September, 2012.

Abi Francis was born and raised in Joplin. She graduated from Webb City High School where she participated in marching band, jazz band, percussion ensemble and show choir. She's currently attending Southern and studying Graphic Design. Abi lives in Webb City with her dog, Pumpkin and her cat, Penny.
